Private early cancer detection tests

Because your health matters.

Cancer screening tests are specifically designed to look for signs of cancer before a person experiences any symptoms or the condition progresses. This is crucial as detecting cancer in its early stages can mean that treatment is more effective, and outcomes more positive. So, for anyone looking to take a proactive approach to managing their overall health, regular early cancer detection tests can be beneficial.

Our private early cancer detection tests offer screening for a range of common cancers, including bowel, stomach, bladder, prostate (in those assigned male at birth), and cervical (in those assigned female at birth). The tests offer a quick, easy, and accurate way to assess your general health and provide insights into your risk of these common cancers, picking up on signs before you may even experience any symptoms.

Early cancer detection tests help provide vital insights into your risk of a range of common cancers. These screening tests can help detect the signs of cancer before you experience any symptoms, allowing you to seek treatment sooner, which can significantly improve your outcome.

At Bluecrest Wellness, our early cancer detection tests screen you for a range of common cancers, including:

  • Bowel cancer
  • Stomach cancer
  • Bladder cancer
  • Cervical cancer (in those assigned female at birth)
  • Prostate cancer (in those assigned male at birth)

Why should you consider early cancer

detection?

Early cancer detection screening is ideal for anyone looking to take a proactive approach to managing their health, as the tests are designed to pick up signs of cancer before symptoms present.

If you are experiencing any unusual symptoms, we would recommend booking an appointment with your GP or a private GP consultation first to discuss your symptoms and assess whether early cancer detection screening is still the most suitable package of tests for you.

The symptoms to be aware that could indicate cancer vary depending on the type of cancer, but if you experience any of the below, we recommend seeking further advice from a GP:

  • A new lump in any area of your body
  • Unusual bleeding in your urine, stool or between periods or after sex for women
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Fatigue
  • Very heavy night sweats or fever
  • Change in bowel habits

What do early cancer detection tests

involve?

At Bluecrest Wellness, our private early cancer tests involve collecting at-home samples and attending an appointment with a Health Assessment Specialist for blood tests. Below, we outline exactly what each cancer risk screening involves:

  • Bowel cancer risk – is assessed by sending a stool sample to our lab, where it is analysed for tiny particles of blood, which can be an early sign of bowel cancer.
  • Bladder cancer risk – involves producing a urine sample, which is sent off for analysis of 11 components including, ketone, protein, crystals, blood, and glucose.
  • Stomach cancer risk - involves having a blood test to look for signs of Helicobacter Pylori antibodies in your blood. H Pylori is a common bacteria that can cause inflammation, lead to stomach ulcers, and increase your risk of developing stomach cancer.
  • Cervical cancer risk – our at-home vaginal swab kit allows you to take a cervical screening test in the comfort of your own home. Once completed, you can send your swab sample to one of our labs to be analysed for the presence of Human papillomavirus (HPV), which is linked to an increased risk of cervical cancer.
  • Prostate cancer risk – involves having a blood test to analyse the levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in your blood. Raised PSA levels can be a sign of prostate problems, including cancer.

For all our at-home sample tests, we provide full instructions on how to collect the samples and provide pre-addressed and paid packaging so it is easy to send off your samples to one of our trusted labs.

For tests requiring a blood sample, we will ask you to book an appointment at a time, date, and location that’s convenient for you. At your appointment, one of our Health Assessment Specialists will take a blood sample from a vein in your arm using a small needle. Once the needle is inserted, a small amount of blood is collected into a test tube, which is then sent to a lab for testing.

FAQs

At-home early cancer detection tests, although a practical option, will not give you the most complete results. While it is possible to collect stool, urine, and vaginal swab samples (for those assigned female at birth) yourself at home and send them off to the lab in the packaging provided, you need to book a blood test appointment for accurate analysis of your stomach cancer risk and prostate cancer risk (for those assigned male at birth). With Bluecrest Wellness, you can choose a test location close to home, making our private early cancer detection screening easily accessible. Our affordable private health checks from high-quality venues across the UK and Ireland. Simply find a location near you and book an appointment with a health assessment specialist.
Your test results and other readings will each be given a ‘flag’ of a different colour: green, amber or red. Green results are within the recommended range for your age and sex; amber results are slightly outside what we'd normally expect; and red results are further outside the norm. Where a result is amber or red, we'll give follow-up advice on what to do next - whether that's making lifestyle changes, simply monitoring the result, or visiting your doctor for further investigation. If there are any critical results discovered by our laboratory, we will contact you immediately, so you won’t need to wait for your full Results Report to arrive to take appropriate action.
Our early detection cancer tests can be added on to any of our full health packages to provide you with more comprehensive insights into your overall health and risk of certain cancers.
