Real-world study shows Yuwell Anytime CGM drives meaningful HbA1c reduction and positive behaviour change in people with prediabetes
Urathon Europe Ltd, distributor of the Yuwell Anytime CT3 continuous glucose monitor (CGM), Bluecrest Wellness, the UK’s largest provider of private health assessments, and Dr Andrea Utley from the University of Leeds today announce the results of a pioneering real-world study demonstrating that wearing the Yuwell Anytime CT3 CGM leads to reductions in HbA1c and supports positive behaviour change in people identified as prediabetic.
The independently conducted research study was with Bluecrest Wellness participants who had been identified as prediabetic through their HbA1c health screening, recorded a reduction in mean HbA1c from 43.0 to 41.2 mmol/mol over a three-month follow-up period. While the difference was recorded over a relatively short timeframe, the direction of change is highly encouraging — and the qualitative findings are equally compelling. Participants consistently described the experience of wearing the CT3 as empowering, motivating and educational, with many reporting that real-time glucose data prompted immediate and lasting changes to their diet and lifestyle.
The independently conducted research study was designed and led by Dr Andrea Utley, Reader, School of Biomedical Sciences University of Leeds, who also led the original clinical trials that established the Yuwell Anytime CT3's clinical accuracy credentials — including the peer-reviewed study published in the British Journal of Nursing (Lancaster et al, 2026). Dr Utley's continued involvement in real-world research with the CT3 reflects a sustained and rigorous academic commitment to understanding the device's impact in practice, moving from controlled clinical validation to real-world behavioural outcomes in everyday settings.
A crisis the NHS cannot ignore
The study arrives at a critical moment for public health in the UK. More than 6 million people are currently living with prediabetes — a condition that, without intervention, significantly increases the risk of progressing to type 2 diabetes. The NHS spends an estimated £10.7 billion on diabetes annually, a figure projected to rise to £16.9 billion by 2035. Despite this, the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme has to date demonstrated only a 7% reduction in diabetes incidence — a figure that underscores the urgent need for new, more effective approaches.
Critically, people with prediabetes are not currently entitled to CGM on the NHS. They are known to the system — identified through GP blood tests and NHS Health Checks — but are left without the tools to act on that knowledge. The Bluecrest Wellness and Yuwell Anytime study demonstrates what becomes possible when that gap is addressed.
The power of private health screening
Bluecrest Wellness plays a vital and growing role in identifying people at risk of diabetes and other serious conditions — often ahead of NHS detection. As a provider of comprehensive private health assessments including HbA1c testing, Bluecrest gives individuals the early warning they need to take action. This study demonstrates what can follow from that early identification: when people are given not just a diagnosis but a practical tool to understand and manage their glucose levels in real time, the results speak for themselves.
Participants in the study described transformative moments of insight:
“I could make changes to my diet by choosing, avoiding or combining foods to avoid glucose peaks and maintain more constant levels.”
“It was empowering to see the real-time effects of different foods on my glucose levels — I have learnt what does not work and will take more care now.”
“This device was a force for change — I could not stop looking at it for the first three days.”
“I found it very empowering wearing the device — I felt in control and that I could focus on what I was eating without judgement.”
The Yuwell Anytime CT3: built for prevention
The Yuwell Anytime CT3 is a continuous glucose monitor designed, clinically proven, and priced specifically for the prediabetes and early type 2 diabetes market — the millions of people the NHS has identified but cannot yet reach with prescribable technology.
Independently validated in a peer-reviewed study published in the British Journal of Nursing (Lancaster et al, 2026), the CT3 achieved a Mean Absolute Relative Difference (MARD) of 6.9% in people with type 2 diabetes — well below the 10% clinical benchmark and comparable with or superior to leading alternatives. At £40 + VAT per 14-day sensor, with a reusable, rechargeable transmitter, the CT3 makes self-funded continuous glucose monitoring genuinely affordable for the first time.
The Anytime CT3 is listed on both the NHS England and NHS Wales procurement frameworks for insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring, enabling NHS trusts and integrated care systems to access the device through a compliant procurement route.
Prevention and remission are at the heart of everything Yuwell Anytime stands for. Type 2 diabetes is now the fastest-growing disease in the UK — four times more prevalent than cancer. The evidence that CGM can drive real behaviour change, even over a short wearing period, transforms the device from a monitoring tool into a powerful intervention. Used at the prediabetes stage, it has the potential to prevent progression entirely.
Hugh Sims-Hilditch, Managing Director of Urathon Europe Ltd, said: “The results of this study confirm what we have always believed: giving people with prediabetes real-time visibility of their glucose levels changes behaviour, and changing behaviour saves lives. The Bluecrest Wellness partnership has been instrumental in generating this evidence and we are proud to be working with a company that shares our passion for prevention. The Anytime CT3 exists for the 6 million people in this country who are heading towards type 2 diabetes and deserve better than being told to wait and see.”
Dr Andrea Utley. Reader. School of Biomedical Sciences University of Leeds said: “This study demonstrated the role that CGM’s have to play in driving forward behaviour change that has the potential to both prevent and reverses a diagnosis of pre-diabetes“
Dr Martin Thornton, Bluecrest Wellness, said: “Identifying people at risk of diabetes is an important first step, but the challenge is supporting effective action thereafter. This study suggests that when individuals identified as prediabetic through screening are given access to continuous glucose monitoring, it can help reinforce behaviour change over a short timeframe. The findings highlight the potential role of CGM as a practical tool to support earlier intervention, and we were pleased to support the research exploring this approach.”
Dr Dawn Harper, NHS GP, broadcaster and author, said: “As a GP I see the human cost of type 2 diabetes every day — and the frustration of knowing that for many patients, it was preventable. Prediabetes is a window of opportunity and we are not doing enough to use it. What this study shows is that giving people real-time visibility of their glucose levels creates a moment of clarity that no leaflet or lifestyle advice appointment can replicate. I have worn the Yuwell Anytime CT3 myself and I have seen its impact on patients. The evidence is clear: this device empowers people to change, and change at the prediabetes stage can be life-changing.”
