This summer of football, we’re encouraging everyone to take control of their health. Book your Complete Health MOT today and we’ll donate £10 to the Sussex Heart Charity.

Even top athletes aren't immune to hidden health

issues

Fran Kirby, Lioness and player for Brighton and Hove Albion, is one of England’s most successful footballers – but behind her incredible career is a powerful story about health. After being diagnosed with a serious heart condition in her 20s, Fran learned first-hand how important it is to listen to your body and take proactive action.

Now, she’s partnering with Bluecrest to encourage others to get on the ball with their health. Because when it comes to heart health, early detection can make all the difference.

“Early detection of heart issues is essential, particularly among young people and women, who are often underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed. This campaign is an excellent initiative to raise awareness and promote heart-healthy lifestyles, empowering individuals to take charge of their cardiovascular well-being before problems arise” - Kathy Clark, Sussex Heart Charity

Make the invisible,

visible

Many health risks don’t come with symptoms – until it’s too late. That’s why our Complete Health Assessments check key indicators like blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes risk, ECG results and more.

We help you catch issues early, before they escalate – so you can live healthier, for longer. As part of the campaign, Bluecrest will donate £10 from every Complete Health MOT sold during Heart Health Week until the end of July to the Sussex Heart Charity.

Hear from the

experts:

Fran’s story is a powerful reminder that heart conditions don’t always come with loud warning signs, and they don’t only affect men,” says Dr Martin Thornton, Chief Medical Officer at Bluecrest. “We want everyone to be more alert to the risks and take action early.

5 tips for women to take care of their heart

health

Heart and circulatory diseases claim more than twice as many women in the UK as breast cancer every year (BHF, 2022). To help you take charge of your heart health, here are 5 essential tips from our Chief Medical Officer, Martin Thornton.

  1. Know the symptoms and trust your instincts Heart issues don’t always feel like chest pain. Women often experience more subtle signs such as breathlessness, fatigue, nausea, jaw pain or back discomfort. If something feels off, don’t dismiss it or delay. Speak to a healthcare professional.

  2. Don’t downplay discomfort during activity If you feel tightness or discomfort in your chest, arms, jaw or neck during exercise or daily tasks, take it seriously. These signs can appear gradually and are often missed in women, but they could be an early warning of heart disease.

  3. Keep track of key health numbers Blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar are all important indicators of heart health. Regular health checks help you spot risks early and take steps to reduce them before they cause long-term damage.

  4. Prioritise recovery and rest Stress, poor sleep and overwork can take a real toll on your heart. Make rest, recovery and managing stress part of your health routine – they’re just as important as diet and exercise.

  5. Be proactive, not reactive You don’t need to wait for a health scare to get your heart checked. Regular assessments can help catch hidden risks and give you peace of mind. Prevention is always better than cure.

Support your heart – and someone

else’s

During this summer of football, we’re donating £10 from every Complete Health Assessment booked to the Sussex Heart Charity – supporting research and care for people living with heart conditions, with a special focus on women’s heart health.

Let’s protect more hearts – together.
