Female Cancer Risk (over 40s)

This package includes tests for bowel, cervical and stomach cancer risk, together with a urine test for kidney cancer and a blood health profile which can help identify blood conditions including lymphoma and leukaemia.

Spotting the signs of cancers early can be vitally important. In many instances, beginning treatment for cancer early can make all the difference. We do not recommend this package if you’re aged under 40 due to the risk of false positives and false negatives.

Spotting the signs of cancers early can be vitally important. In many instances, beginning treatment for cancer early can make all the difference. When looking at cancer tests, it’s important to appreciate that no test can be 100% perfect. What some doctors call ‘false positives’ (results that are raised, but may turn out not to be serious) can occur. Likewise, ‘false negatives’ (results that appear normal but do not confirm the absence of a condition) can also occur.

That’s why all your results are explained fully in your Results Report. And you’ll have the added benefit of discussing any concerns you may have with a registered GP during a private consultation by phone or webcam after your appointment.

What's included in this health

check?

Your Health Assessment includes:

The Quantitative Faecal Immunochemical Test (qFIT) is an advanced form of bowel cancer screening used to identify tiny, invisible particles of blood in a sample of your stool, which can be an indication of bowel cancer or other diseases that affect the bowels. You'll be given a kit to take a sample of stool from the comfort of your home which you then send to our lab for analysis.
This test assesses your white blood cell (WBC) count and platelet count. Platelets are cell fragments which help your blood to clot. A platelet count which is too high or low can indicate thrombocytosis or immune system deficiencies. Your WBC count includes neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils. These are part of your body's immune system, helping your body fight infection and disease. A low WBC count can increase your risk of getting infections, while a high WBC can indicate that your body is trying to fight an infection. A high WBC can sometimes be caused by certain cancers, including leukaemia.
Your urinalysis looks at 11 separate components of your urine, including ketones, proteins, crystals and glucose. It can detect a number of common conditions which may have no symptoms in their early stages, including diabetes, kidney disease and urinary tract infections. Your urine sample will also be analysed for traces of blood, which can be a sign of bladder cancer. You'll be given a kit to take a sample of urine from the comfort of your home which you then send to our lab for analysis.
Your blood test for kidney function checks your levels of sodium, urea, and creatinine as these can indicate any issues with kidney function. We also include an eGFR test (estimated glomerular filtration rate) which is a calculation of the amount of blood filtered through your kidneys over a period of time. This useful test is a measurement of how efficiently your kidneys are working.
Your essential proteins and iron test measures a number of important proteins found in the blood that are required for healthy bodily function, and iron which is vital for red blood cell production. Low protein levels can sometimes be related to liver or kidney disease, while low iron levels can show iron deficiency.
HPV is the name given to a group of viruses that affect your skin and the cells which line your body cavities. HPV is common, and around 8 in 10 people will be infected with the virus in their lifetime. Around 13 types of HPV can cause cancer, and almost all cases of cervical cancer are linked to HPV. You'll be given a self-collection vaginal swab kit to take a sample from the comfort of your home which you'll then post to our lab for analysis.
Within around 8 days of your health check, you'll be able to view all your test results securely online. Within 21 days, you'll receive a printed hard copy results report through the post. Your report explains each test in detail, giving every result a flag of green, amber or red. This helps you identify any areas of concern at a glance. The report gives you follow-up advice on how you could improve your results, and we'll also let you know if any results need further follow-up with your own GP.
After you've received your results report, you can book your Private GP Consultation (which takes place over phone or webcam) at a time and date convenient to you. The GP will have a copy of your full results report, allowing you to talk through any areas of concern with a medical expert.
This test examines your blood health by checking your haemoglobin levels (including Mean Cell Haemoglobin or MCH) and red blood cell count (also known as an erythrocyte count). Abnormal haemoglobin levels can sometimes be a result of heart and lung diseases, while MCH and red blood cell count abnormalities can be caused by anaemia or vitamin deficiency.
This blood test looks for Helicobacter Pylori (H Pylori) antibodies in your blood. H Pylori is a common bacteria found in the human digestive tract, which causes chronic inflammation which can lead to stomach ulcers. A H Pylori infection increases your risk of developing stomach cancer, but once detected, the infection can usually be treated with antibiotics.
The liver function test looks at ALP (alkaline phosphatase), ALT (alanine aminotransferase), Gamma GT (Gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase), and Bilirubin levels in your blood to understand if you have a normal liver function.
Your cholesterol test, also called lipid panel, measures Triglycerides, High Density Lipoprotein (HDL), and Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) in your blood. LDL cholesterol is often referred to as bad cholesterol because high levels contribute to fatty build-ups in the arteries and increase the risk of heart attack, stroke and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). The HbA1c blood test determines your risk of diabetes and is far more accurate than standard glucose testing. While a standard test is a snapshot of your glucose levels at the moment your sample is taken, the HbA1c test measures the average amount of glucose in your blood over the last 2-3 months.
Unlimited access to a 24/7 GP helpline for a year after your appointment. From tummy upsets to travel advice, the service even covers prescriptions.
This test measures the levels of calcium, phosphate and uric acid in your blood. Calcium and phosphate are essential for muscle and nerve function, healthy teeth and bones, and energy function. Deficiencies in these can cause pins and needles, muscle cramps, weakness and tiredness. Uric acid helps test for gout, a painful condition affecting the joints in your body.
Your lung function test is an assessment of your respiratory health using spirometry. Lung function is often impaired due to respiratory conditions like asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis or COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). This test is only recommended for ages 18-79.
Your thyroid function test measures the levels of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and thyroxine (FT4) in your blood. It‘s estimated that around 1 in 20 people have a thyroid function problem, and this test can help identify both an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) and an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).

I received various invitations to get checked out, but always wondered would it be worth it.... Then I just decided to do it, and honestly I couldn't be happier. The location was easy to get to. I got looked after very well, everything got explained in normal English and the details I received after were amazing. The book was really detailed and easy to understand. Will definitely recommend and do it again for myself.
