Body Composition

Scan

Your body composition scan is performed by sending a safe electrical signal through your body via pressure-contact electrodes. You’ll receive a breakdown of the percentages and masses of the various components of your body.

Body Fat

This includes your total body fat and visceral fat readings. Visceral fat surrounds your internal organs, including your kidneys, liver and pancreas. Even if you are slim, having too much visceral fat increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

Hydration

Around 45%-65% of the weight of a healthy person is water. Your body uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate its temperature and maintain other bodily functions.

Muscle Mass

Your muscles act as the body’s metabolic engine by using energy (calories). Muscles burn more calories than fat, so generally speaking the higher your muscle mass, the higher your basal metabolic rate (BMR).

Bone Mass

This is an estimated total weight of your bone mineral mass, although it is not intended as a substitute for more detailed assessments of bone density.

Metabolic Age

If your metabolic age is higher than your actual age, by increasing the amount you exercise you can build muscle mass which will help improve your score.

BMR and BMI

Your BMR (basal metabolic rate) is the number of daily calories your body requires to function normally at rest – it’s useful to know if you’re interested in weight loss, gain, or simply maintaining a healthy weight. Your BMI (body mass index) is a calculation which can help determine whether you are at a healthy weight for your height.
