Blood tests for inflammation
Take control of your health with key inflammation
insights
Our Inflammatory Profile measures important markers linked to inflammation, giving you a clearer picture of your overall health and wellbeing. These tests include:
-
High sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP): a sensitive indicator of chronic, low-grade inflammation
-
Ferritin: reflects iron storage and can also act as a marker of inflammation
-
Grip strength: increasingly recognised as a practical marker of longevity and inflammation, offering insight into overall health and ageing.
These checks can help identify inflammation that may be contributing to fatigue, illness or long-term health conditions.
Please note: This test can only be booked by phone. Call us free on 0800 652 2183 to book.

Understanding inflammation
markers
What are inflammation markers?
Markers such as hsCRP and ferritin help assess your body's inflammatory status. Raised levels may indicate underlying inflammation linked to infections, autoimmune conditions or cardiovascular disease.
What does it mean if inflammation is detected?
Chronic inflammation is a risk factor for several long-term conditions, including heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers. Identifying raised levels early gives you the chance to take proactive steps to manage your health.
Who should consider this
test?
Blood tests for inflammation may be useful if you:
-
Have a family history of heart disease or stroke
-
Experience persistent fatigue or low energy
-
Suffer from unexplained aches, pains or joint issues
-
Find it difficult to recover after illness or exercise
-
Have frequent colds or infections
-
Experience brain fog or difficulty concentrating
-
Struggle with weight management
About the key
tests
High sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) A precise blood test that detects even low levels of chronic inflammation, often before symptoms appear.
Ferritin The main storage form of iron in the body. Low levels may suggest iron deficiency, while high levels can signal inflammation.
Grip strength Measured with a handheld device, grip strength is strongly linked with overall health, independence in later life and longevity. Weaker grip strength has been associated with inflammation, frailty, reduced muscle mass and increased risk of falls.
Additional
guidance
-
The grip test cannot be undertaken if you've had an arm amputation or missing digits
-
Customers with bone or joint conditions (e.g. arthritis or carpal tunnel) may find the grip strength test uncomfortable and may choose to skip this part.
-
All other elements of the test can still be carried out.
