Bluecrest Health Monitor

Bluecrest Health Monitor is a 12-month health membership. It starts with an in-clinic assessment covering 47+ blood markers and 40 physical measurements, plus two personalised health tests of your choice. A 6-month check-in then tracks how your results are changing. These tests alone are not diagnostic, and abnormal results could be due to a variety of medical conditions. They may need further investigation by your own GP or healthcare provider.

Every member can book a private GP consultation to talk through their results, plus two Healthspan Coaching sessions to help turn them into next steps, all at no extra cost.

A one-off health check gives you a snapshot. Following your health over a full year shows you what’s changing, so you can understand, track and support your next steps with confidence. This membership is designed for adults aged 40 to 70 who want to take a proactive approach to how they age.

6-month check-in

Your health doesn’t stand still, and a single set of results can only tell you so much. By testing at the start of your membership and again at 6 months, you can see how your results are changing and whether the lifestyle changes you make are having an effect. No test is 100% perfect. Some results may be raised but turn out not to be serious, and results that appear normal do not always confirm the absence of a condition.

That’s why all your results are explained clearly in My Wellness, our online dashboard and app, with personalised lifestyle recommendations for each result. You’ll also be able to book a private consultation with a registered GP to talk through any concerns once your results are ready.

If any of your baseline results come back outside the expected range, we’ll retest selected markers at your 6-month check-in at no extra cost. Throughout the year, two Healthspan Coaching sessions help you set goals, track your progress and plan your next steps.

What's included in this health check?

Your Health Assessment includes:

The liver function test looks at ALP (alkaline phosphatase), ALT (alanine aminotransferase), Gamma GT (Gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase), and Bilirubin levels in your blood to understand if you have a normal liver function.

Your cholesterol test, also called lipid panel, measures Triglycerides, High Density Lipoprotein (HDL), and Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) in your blood. LDL cholesterol is often referred to as bad cholesterol because high levels contribute to fatty build-ups in the arteries and increase the risk of heart attack, stroke and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). The HbA1c blood test determines your risk of diabetes and is far more accurate than standard glucose testing. While a standard test is a snapshot of your glucose levels at the moment your sample is taken, the HbA1c test measures the average amount of glucose in your blood over the last 2-3 months.

Unlimited access for yourself to a 24/7 GP helpline for a year after your appointment. From tummy upsets to travel advice, the service even covers prescriptions. (please note this service is not designed to discuss your results from your health assessment.) Worth £10

Your results will be available 24/7 through My Wellness, our online dashboard and app. You’ll receive an email notification as soon as your results are ready. The dashboard also includes a downloadable PDF, making it easy to share your results with your GP.

Each reading is clearly explained using a simple red-amber-green flag system, helping you see areas of concern at a glance. Where needed, we’ll provide follow-up advice on diet, lifestyle changes or where to seek further medical review.

This test assesses your white blood cell (WBC) count and platelet count. Platelets are cell fragments which help your blood to clot. A platelet count which is too high or low can indicate thrombocytosis or immune system deficiencies. Your WBC count includes neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils. These are part of your body's immune system, helping your body fight infection and disease. A low WBC count can increase your risk of getting infections, while a high WBC can commonly indicate that your body is trying to fight an infection. On some rare occasions high WBC can sometimes be caused by certain cancers, including leukaemia.

Your membership includes two personalised health tests, so you can focus on the areas that matter most to you. Choose two tests from our standard range, such as a Prostate Cancer Risk (PSA) test, an Advanced Menopause Check or a Coeliac Disease test. Or choose one test from our advanced range, such as Omega Index, Gut Health or Advanced Heart & Brain Prevention. Your priorities may change over time, so you can swap your personalised tests each year when your membership renews. You can also add extra tests whenever you like.

Your membership includes two 15-minute virtual sessions with a Healthspan coach. After your first results, your coach will get in touch to help you understand where small lifestyle changes could make the biggest difference and set goals that work for you. Later in the year, a second session helps you review your progress, track your goals and plan ahead.

A body composition analysis provides a comprehensive breakdown of fat, bone, muscle, and water content within the body, offering valuable insights into key health indicators compared to just weight and BMI alone. By revealing important biometric results including visceral fat levels (fat stored around the organs), which poses significant risks for conditions such as diabetes and heart disease, this test enables proactive health assessment.

Your thyroid function test measures the levels of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and thyroxine (FT4) in your blood (T3 is not measured). It‘s estimated that around 1 in 20 people have a thyroid function problem, and this test can help identify both an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) and an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).

Albumin / Globulin / Total Protein / Ferritin

This profile measures Apolipoproteins (Apo-A1 and Apo B). These measurements provide information about the transport of lipids (cholesterol) and provides a more comprehensive result than standard cholesterol testing.

Vitamin B12 is essential for nerve health, red blood cell production and cognitive function. Low B12 levels may lead to fatigue, memory problems, numbness or tingling in the hands and feet and mood changes. This test helps identify vitamin B12 deficiency, which is more common in older adults, vegans, vegetarians and individuals with absorption issues.

This test uses an arm cuff attached to a sphygmomanometer to give your blood pressure result. Systolic and diastolic measurements are taken, helping identify high or low blood pressure.

An electrocardiogram (ECG) measures the electrical activity of your heart, your heart rhythm and rate. At Bluecrest we use 6-lead ECGs because the limb lead placements are easily accessible and can be done outside of a clinical setting. The information provided by 6-lead ECGs, allows us to screen for an initial problem and then advise individuals to visit their doctor for a fully diagnostic 12-lead ECG when necessary. Although 6-lead ECGs may not always be fully diagnostic on their own, they offer enough information to make informed recommendations for further medical evaluation. They are especially valuable in identifying heart rhythm abnormalities such as atrial fibrillation which is a significant risk factor in developing a stroke.

This test measures the strength of your hand grip using a dynamometer. This can help identify musculoskeletal problems affecting your hands and wrists, such as arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome. Good grip strength is associated with a decreased risk of functional limitations and frailty in later life.

Your blood test for kidney function checks your levels of sodium, urea, and creatinine as these can indicate any issues with kidney function. We also include an eGFR test (estimated glomerular filtration rate) which is a calculation of the amount of blood filtered through your kidneys over a period of time. This useful test is a measurement of how efficiently your kidneys are working.

Your essential proteins and iron test measures a number of important proteins found in the blood that are required for healthy bodily function, and iron which is vital for red blood cell production. Low protein levels can sometimes be related to liver or kidney disease, while low iron levels can show iron deficiency.

This test measures the levels of calcium, phosphate and uric acid in your blood. Calcium and phosphate are essential for muscle and nerve function, healthy teeth and bones, and energy function. Deficiencies in these can cause pins and needles, muscle cramps, weakness and tiredness. Uric acid helps test for gout, a painful condition affecting the joints in your body.

This test examines your blood health by checking your haemoglobin levels (including Mean Cell Haemoglobin or MCH) and red blood cell count (also known as an erythrocyte count). Abnormal haemoglobin levels can sometimes be a result of heart and lung diseases, while MCH and red blood cell count abnormalities can be caused by anaemia or vitamin deficiency.

After you've received your results report, you can book your Private GP Consultation (which takes place over phone or webcam) at a time and date convenient to you. The GP will have a copy of your full results report, allowing you to talk through any areas of concern.

Halfway through your membership, you’ll return to the same clinic for a 20-minute check-in to see how your results are changing. We’ll book this for you automatically, and you can easily reschedule to a time that suits you.

Your check-in includes:

Blood tests: kidney, liver, cholesterol, glucose, essential proteins and iron, bone health, ferritin and inflammation (hsCRP). Physical tests: body composition, blood pressure, fitness, grip strength and sit-to-stand.

Your results will be available 24/7 through My Wellness, our online dashboard and app. You’ll be notified as soon as they’re ready. Each result is explained in plain English with personalised lifestyle recommendations, and you can view your results by health area or by flag. As your membership continues, you can track how your results change over time and see how selected markers compare to the Bluecrest average. You’ll also find health articles to help you get the most from your results, and you can view your membership details whenever you need them.

ALP / ALT / Gamma GT / Bilirubin

Your cholesterol test, also called lipid panel, measures Triglycerides, High Density Lipoprotein (HDL), and Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) in your blood. LDL cholesterol is often referred to as bad cholesterol because high levels contribute to fatty build-ups in the arteries and increase the risk of heart attack, stroke and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). The glucose blood test determines your risk of diabetes by measuring your glucose levels at the time the test is taken.

This specialist test measures the amount of lipoprotein (a) in your blood. Lipoprotein (a) is a sticky cholesterol rich protein which transports fats in the blood. Similar to LDL (bad) cholesterol, high levels are a risk factor for heart disease and stroke because they can stick to the walls of your arteries, restricting blood flow. This test is currently not available in Northern Ireland.

This test analyses key inflammation biomarkers such as high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP), ferritin and grip strength. The test assesses your body’s inflammatory status and potential for longevity.

Your lung function test is an assessment of your respiratory health using spirometry. Lung function is often impaired due to respiratory conditions like asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis or COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). This test is only recommended for ages 18-79.

This test uses a step test to help you understand your current level of fitness. During your assessment, we will measure three items: resting heart rate, heart rate after exercise and the oxygen level.

Your heart disease & stroke risk test, also called metabolic syndrome, combines test results from your health assessment (including cholesterol, BMI and blood pressure) with other common risk factors (like high blood pressure or having diabetes). Your result will help show the likelihood of you suffering heart disease or stroke in the future.

What happens at a health check?

Our private health checks are designed for busy people who lead busy lives - they're quick, convenient and completely stress-free. No invasive procedures, no embarrassing questions, no long travel times and no busy waiting rooms.

Book your health check

Select the package of tests you'd like and choose a location, date and time that suits you. Our nationwide network of high-quality venues - with great parking and transport links - mean you'll usually find a convenient appointment within 20 minutes of your home or workplace.

Attend your appointment

Your Health Assessment Specialist, fully trained in phlebotomy, will take a blood sample, ask you a few questions about your lifestyle, and complete the non-blood tests (like blood pressure, for example). The process is quick and pain-free, normally taking under 30 minutes.

Your results are processed

Your blood sample and other readings are analysed by specialists in their field. We use the largest independent lab in the UK for blood testing, and a specialist cardiology centre for ECG trace analysis. We contact customers straight away with any critical results (determined by national guidance). Other abnormal results with red and amber flags will be in your report.

Receive your results report

You will receive an email notification as soon as your results are available in My Wellness. Processing times vary by test, with some results accessible on the dashboard in as little as three days. Each result is explained in plain English with no medical jargon and is given a flag of green, amber or red, so you can easily see any areas for concern.

I received various invitations to get checked out, but always wondered would it be worth it.... Then I just decided to do it, and honestly I couldn't be happier. The location was easy to get to. I got looked after very well, everything got explained in normal English and the details I received after were amazing. The book was really detailed and easy to understand. Will definitely recommend and do it again for myself.
