Peter's Story

Last updated: 25 March 2026

If I hadn’t gone for a Bluecrest Wellness health assessment I probably wouldn’t be here. Bluecrest Wellness saved my life, it’s as simple as that.

“There wasn’t anything really worrying me,” says Peter, “but I knew I was knocking on a bit, and I knew it was nearly impossible to get through to our local doctors. So a bit of an MOT at a nice hotel literally ten minutes down the road seemed like a sensible thing to do.”

“It was a bit of a lightbulb moment,” agrees Kathy, “so we went for it. The health assessment only took about half an hour and then we were back home and on with our day. It was all very thorough and the health assessor who saw us was wonderful. They did all sorts of tests, including taking some blood, weighing and measuring, blood pressure - and an ECG. The results came through about a week later.”

Results Report

“My report had some red and amber flags on it,” recalls Peter, “and they were all around my heart health – in particular they’d spotted atrial fibrillation, which is an irregular heartbeat. Well I was blown away. I had no idea! I called up the Bluecrest Wellness GP to discuss the results, and their advice was to see my own GP to get it sorted out."

“So armed with the report and advice, I actually stuck it out on waiting on the phone for half an hour to get an appointment at my local surgery. From there I was referred to the local hospital for more tests, and they confirmed what the Bluecrest Wellness had said.”

It turned out Peter had quite a serious heart condition, and needed some immediate attention. He’s since had his mitral valve replaced, his aortic valve replaced, a cardiac ablation, a heart bypass and a pacemaker fitted.

“I got the full works,” says Peter. “Frankly, I think I’m very lucky they got to me when they did. There’s not a doubt in my mind that Bluecrest Wellness saved my life.”

No symptoms

Kathy adds:

We know people with heart problems, they’ve all had things like breathlessness as symptoms. There wasn’t a thing wrong with Peter. Without Bluecrest Wellness we’d just never have known - I dread to think what might have happened. Without question, it really did save his life. He’s like a new man! And we can’t thank Bluecrest enough.

In the end, Peter wasn’t the only one with red and amber flags. Kathy also discovered she had high cholesterol, which was probably also putting her heart at risk.

Flying the Bluecrest Wellness flag

“We’ve definitely been flying the Bluecrest flag,” says Kathy. “We originally went looking for reassurance and we BOTH came out with a diagnosis – and information about our health we really, really needed. Since then we’ve been going around telling everyone we know or that we can possibly get to listen that they should go for a Bluecrest Wellness health assessment, too!”

“I’m still recovering from what was major heart surgery, but I’m getting better every day,” says Peter. “I’d say to anyone thinking about going for a Bluecrest Wellness health assessment to just get on and do it. It’s really easy, really professional, really painless. Don’t put it off, and for goodness sake don’t wait until you feel dreadful. Because you just never know.”
