PSA (for males)

PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) is a protein made by the prostate that naturally leaks into the bloodstream. Sometimes a raised PSA level can be a sign of prostate cancer, but often it’s caused by something less serious such as an inflamed prostate (prostatitis) or an enlargement of the prostate gland. This test is only medically appropriate for men aged 40-79 due to the risk of false positive or negative results.
