A urinalysis is a group of tests used to measure and detect several substances in your urine, including microscopic particles of blood. Some substances found in your urine are to be expected, as they are simply by-products of normal bodily functions. But blood in the urine can sometimes be caused by infection, stones. kidney problems and sometimes cancers of the kidney, bladder or prostate.

The main purpose for your urine analysis is to look for tiny particles of blood which are invisible to the naked eye. Together with a result for blood in your sample we’ll also check your urine for:

  • Protein
  • pH
  • Glucose
  • Organisms
  • Ketones
  • Urobilinogen
  • White blood cells
  • Red blood cells
  • Casts
  • Epithelial cells
  • Crystals
